  2. After that, if desired, click the "Enable forwarding" button and enter another email address where you want to receive messages from your student email account.
  3. Finally, make sure you click the option "Keep a copy of forwarded messages." Keep Your Email Account Safe

If your email has been hacked or you are blocked from sending messages...

If you suspect:

  • that your GRC student email account has been compromised (hacked)
  • OR it has been flagged for sending spam and you receive a message that you are blocked from sending further email messages...

…then please follow the steps below in order to make sure that your account is safe to use and stops sending spam messages:

  1. Reset your GRC student email account password and the passwords of any other accounts that use a similar password (your bank login, other email accounts, shopping sites, etc.) to a very different password.
  1. Check and delete as necessary any unintended forwarding in your student email account (in webmail, go to “Settings > View all Outlook settings > Mail > Forwarding”).
  2. Check and delete as necessary any unintended rules in your student email account (in webmail, go to “Settings > View all Outlook settings > Mail > Rules”).
  3. Check and sign out of any unknown devices that Office is signed into (in webmail, go to “Click on User icon (picture or initials) > My account > Apps and Devices”, and if available under “Office”, click the down arrow by “DEVICES”, review the listed devices and click “sign out” as appropriate next to the device). This does not remove Office, but will disable it on the device (may take up to 72 hours) and will require the user to sign back in with their new password which the spammer should not know.
  4. Configure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on your GRC student email account by going to https://account.microsoft.com/account and logging in with your GRC student email account so that even if hackers figure out your password, they cannot log in to your account. See links below for help setting up MFA.
  5. If your account was blocked from sending messages, then when you have completed the steps above, please email ithelpdesk@greenriver.edu to let us know and we will be able to unblock your account so that you can send out messages again.

Community Computer Access Card

For a fee, individuals who are not students can gain computer access and borrowing privileges from the Holman Library for one academic quarter. Access includes use of library and campus lab computers, programs, internet, printing, library databases, and a student email account. An introductory information session can be provided by the library staff upon request.

After paying the fee, students will be notified when a student email address is created for them which allows them access to the privileges above.

Email FAQs & Help

How Does Student Email Work at Green River?

  • Green River College expects that every student will receive email at their College email address and will read email on a frequent and consistent basis.  Important info for students, including official college communications to you, is sent via the student email address.

  • When students apply to Green River College, an email account is then created for the student (usually takes a 4-6 business days to be created).

  •  Students have1 TB of file storage through the OneDrive (a feature available as long as students are registered for classes or through the remainder of the academic year in which they had registered).

How long will my student email stay active?

  • Student email accounts and any associated content are now deleted one year after the last quarter you attend Green River College. Deleted means the account and content of the account are removed and not recoverable. That said, if you re-enroll in a course after your account has been deleted, the same email alias/address will be assigned to you, though you'll not have any of your old emails or contents of your old OneDrive available.

How do I enable MFA (multi-factor authentication)?

I know how to access my email, but am having problems.  I was told to "clear my browser cache."  How do I do that?

If you experience trouble accessing your account, first try clearing you browser's cache. If using Internet Explorer, Edge, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox you can quickly clear cache with a keyboard shortcut. While in your browser, press Ctrl + Shift + Delete simultaneously on the keyboard to open the appropriate window.  Be sure and close/quit the browser and restart it after clearing the cache and cookies.
