How To Print on Campus

Printing is a two-step-process

1. FIRST, log on to a campus computer in the Holman Library or TC Lab with your student email and password

2. Open your file and select print

  • In order to reduce the impact of paper use and printing on our environment, the default on all printers in the Information Commons is set to print two-sided pages.
  • If you would like help printing single-sided pages, please ask a librarian or student assistant for help in the IC or TC labs.

3. THEN, get up and go over to a "Print Release Station" (usually located in the middle of the Library or TC buildings)

4. Log on to the print release station with your student email and password, see the jobs that you sent, and click "print" to release the jobs to the printer

Print Allocation & Adding Print Points

How much can I print for free?

At the beginning of each quarter, all currently enrolled students receive a print allocation credit of 350 points. Points are automatically debited every time you print or copy.

Unused points accumulate from quarter to quarter, until a maximum of 1000 points is reached.   If you do not attend Green River for 6 months, your account will be deleted along with accumulated points.

  • Black & white copies are one (1) point per side. [2-sided copy = 2 points]
  • Black & white prints are one (1) point for each piece of paper. [2-sided printout = 1 point]
  • Color prints are ten (10) points.
  • Posters are one hundred (100) points.

How can I purchase more printing points?

You may add points at a cost of $.05/point to your account by purchasing $1, $5, or $10 print cards (20, 100, and 200pts) from the Paper Tree Bookstore.  Print cards are charged sales tax. Staff at the library can help you add the purchased points to your printing account or see the instructions below.

Faculty Printing

Normally faculty have printing privileges in their office buildings through a logon or badge swipe.

What about if they want to print in the Holman Library or TC computer labs (sometimes faculty wish to use printers there, especially the big plotter poster printer). They can do so by reimbursing the Tech Fee for the print using the options below:

  1. ARRANGE PAYMENT

    • Option #1 Purchase Print Refill Card and charge department
      • Faculty buy a print refill card from the PaperTree Bookstore using their departmental account.

      • You may add points at a cost of $.05/point to your account by purchasing $1, $5, or $10 print cards (20, 100, and 200pts) from the Paper Tree Bookstore. Staff at the library can help you add the purchased points to your printing account.

        • Black & white copies are one (1) point per side. [2-sided copy = 2 points]

        • Black & white prints are one (1) point for each piece of paper. [2-sided printout = 1 point]

        • Color prints are ten (10) points.

        • Posters are one hundred (100) points.

    • Option #2 (not preferred) Funds Transfer
      • As of 10/24/22 The Library Dean does not actually know how to do the funds transfer in ctcLink, but she would figure it out if that's the only way that faculty can pay for printing.

    • Option #3 Use students' pre-existing Papercut printing balance
      • See #2, option 4 below.

  2. RELEASE PRINT JOB

    • Option #1 Print Refill Card: - Let the Dean deal with the card
      • Librarians thank the faculty member for the card, write "used" on it, and give it to the Library Dean to deal with. Then librarians release the poster from the reference desk.
    • Option #2 Print Refill Card - add to faculty's account balance
      • Librarians can help faculty log in, click on papercut in the system tray, redeem their Print Refill Card points, and then print from the computer and release from their account.
    • Option #3 Funds Transfer
      • (not preferred) Librarians release print job from reference desk and email faculty name and department to Dean Jennifer Dysart so she can deal with the Funds Transfer.
    • Option #4 Charge using students' pre-existing Papercut printing balance
      • Faculty member keeps a list of the students on whose behalf they will print. List includes A) student name B) student email C) student ctcLink ID.
      • Faculty member logs on to lab computer under their logon and sends print job...
      • ...but the librarians release the print job from the Papercut Admin at the reference desk.
      • Faculty member gives librarian list of students. List is sent to Jennifer Dysart who will manually deduct points from students' existing Papercut accounts.
