Author Interviews in Library News Databases

Searching for Interviews

The library's databases are also a good source of author interviews. Use ProQuest or Academic Search Complete, linked below.

Search Tips

Be sure to limit by document type, such as Interviews, or try adding Interview as a search term along with the author's name.

  • Note, if you're not finding the author, try wrapping his or her name in quotation marks, as in "Maurice Sendak." This keeps the two words together as a single concept, rather than two separate keywords.
  • If you need to access articles immediately, be sure to limit to "Full-Text" over on the left.

Or consider using Gale Literature

In the same way that you would search in the databases above, limiting by document type - so too can you search many of the other databases, including Gale Literature.

  • Type in your author's name and select Interview at "by Document Type."

Searching Online

You can search for author interviews online using Google. Simply search by author name and the keyword: Interview

  • Be sure to use quotation marks around an author's name if needed such as "J.K. Rowling" - This keeps the words together, as a single concept rather than individual search terms.
  • Be sure to limit to educational or government websites when applicable by adding site:edu or site:gov to your search. For example: "Maruice Sendak" interview site:edu
