Required Sources

Definitions & Requirements of the Source Categories:

Primary Source

Primary Source is the short story you have selected for this project. Your project must list your primary source.

Scholarship

Project must have at least 2 peer-reviewed/scholarly Secondary Sources (journal articles and or book chapters)

Peer-reviewed Secondary Sources are publications from outside experts and scholars who have researched and written about the topic and its impact/contributions. Peer-reviewed/scholarly content related to literature is called criticism and is most often published in online journals or academic books; they can even be articles or academic book chapters if the text is an anthology. Reviews of the narrative are not considered peer-reviewed/scholarly, so keep that in mind.

General Secondary Sources

Project must have at least 3 General Secondary and/or Web Sources

General Secondary Sources can include publications about the topic and are written or produced by groups or individuals not necessarily involved directly with the topic. These are non-peer-reviewed/scholarly sources that haven’t gone through an extensive editing process. They can be background information from subject encyclopedias, magazine or newspaper articles, memoirs, reviews, books, or biographies connected with the topic. Nevertheless, these sources still must be credible and authoritative. Likewise, Web Sources include professional websites of people, organizations, historical/biographical background specifically on the topic. They will often incorporate links to photographs, images, transcripts of speeches and writings, or bibliographies for further research. These sites should be operational, so personal or fan-based websites do not necessarily make good web sources. They are often too subjective or inaccurate.

Multimedia

Project must have at least 1 Multimedia Source

Multimedia Sources are comprised of film documentaries and DVDs, news footage, podcasts, live performances, and streaming Internet videos, audio recorded speeches and Internet audio clips, or databases that include audio/visual components. You can include links to these sources throughout the project where appropriate, particularly where you discuss them.

Photographic Images

Project must have at least 6 Photographic Images

Photographic images should be relevant to your project and serve to enhance the overall presentation and layout of your website. You can have more than this just six, and they should be distributed throughout your website so you avoid having just text.
