Annotated Bibliography Project

Annotated Bibliography: (15 points for each group member)

(This information is drawn directly from your instructor's assignment Winter 2023)

At this phase in the project, you should locate and evaluate at least three different sources for your topic. One should be a secondary source that is peer-reviewed/scholarly; one should be a general secondary source, and one should be a multi-media source. Include a complete 8th edition MLA bibliographic listing of each source. Then, after each source, provide a two-three sentence summary in original words that presents the general overview, purpose, or features of the source. Demonstrate that you have understood what the source is about. At the end of each source’s summary, craft two-three additional sentences explaining why this source is significant and relevant to your project. There is no need to number your entries. Simply list them alphabetically. Avoid overusing one kind of source: newspapers, encyclopedias, general websites, etc. Never use Wikipedia as one of your sources. Since it is not an officially peer-edited source, its information is not always accurate. Keep in mind that you should also not cite/quote from things such standard dictionaries, online purchased/prewritten essays, nor literature summary websites/blogs including Answer.com, SparkNotes, Cliff’s Notes, Artificial Intelligence (AI) generators, Shmoop, About.com, Infoplease.com, eNotes, GraderSaver, etc. Ask me if you are uncertain about a source’s validity.

Here is a visual model of what your sources in the Annotated Bibliography should look like:

Indented Citation

Overview of Source:  In this anthologized article, Meyer proposes that London’s identity has gone through significant transformation since the turn of the millennium. Various communities from around the world have transformed this city into an international hub for culture, language, and politics.

Specific use within my EWP:  I will use parts of this article to help me build up information in my “Profile of the East-West City” section of the project. There is also information helpful in examining how the Muslim community has become an integral part of London’s daily life, so this can help me when I interpret the role of Islamic culture in the story I’ve selected.

Check with a Reference Librarian before submitting your Annotated Bibliography to ensure you are using appropriate sources for your project. Carefully decide which sources are most valuable and be certain that there is no plagiarism in any of the writing you do. Any part of the project that is plagiarized, no matter how little, will result in a score of zero for the entire project regardless if you intended to do so or not. Review section 2.2 of Course Syllabus for this policy. Upload one complete copy to Canvas under the “EWP: Annotated Bibliography” file in “Assignments” no later than Tuesday, February 28 by 11:59 PM.
