Professional organizations offer great opportunities for networking, updating and keeping current with your skills, and staying informed of current trends and news in the industry. Some professional organizations offer low or no-cost memberships to students.

Washington Association of Accounting & Tax Professionals

Washington Society of CPAs
"The Washington Society of CPAs is a professional community of CPAs and financial professionals who work in business and industry, education, government, not-for-profit organizations, and public accounting. With more than 6,500 members, the WSCPA is the only organization in the State of Washington dedicated to serving the professional needs of CPAs, educating consumers about CPAs and the services they provide, and encouraging students to study accounting and enter the profession. WSCPA members are CPAs and financial professionals, students, and retirees."

IMA | Institute of Management Accountants
Part of The Association of Accountants and Financial Professionals in Business. Offers certifications, continuing education, industry news, and more. Certifications include FMAA (Financial and Managerial Accounting Associate), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), and CSCA (Certified in Strategy and Competitive Analysis).
Association of Nonprofit Accountants and Finance Professionals (ANAFP)
The Association of Nonprofit Accountants and Finance Professionals (ANAFP) is the largest professional association dedicated to the field of nonprofit accounting and finance. Members include:
Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), Directors of finance, Controllers, Finance Directors/Managers, Financial Analysts, Budget Managers/Analysts, Accountants/Bookkeepers, Grants Managers, and Board Members.
ANAFP's goal is to ensure nonprofits operate with fiscal integrity by supporting professional development as accounting standards change, new systems are created, and regulations become more complex to navigate.
