GRCC was scheduled to host Dr. Angelou as part of the Artist & Speaker Series on February 16, 2011. However, this just in:

President Obama will be awarding Dr. Angelou the Presidential Medal of Freedom on February 15th. “The Medal of Freedom is the Nation's highest civilian honor, presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.” She has cancelled and is rescheduling her entire west coast tour at all other colleges/universities and venues, including her speaking engagement in Seattle. This is very exciting news for Dr. Angelou and we are still honored to be able to host her on our campus. The new date for Dr. Angelou to speak at GRCC is:
