Film and Video for Classes

Information for faculty on the process of requesting and showing films for classes at GRC.

Showing Films and Video in Classes

Film & Video for Classes

Holman Library purchases and provides access to film and video for classes at GRC. Because we purchase and provide access to those videos in a range of ways, the process of requesting and showing films can sometimes be a bit confusing. The information in this guide will hopefully clarify your options for using films for your classes.

  • Please keep in mind that purchasing and digitizing videos takes time, so please reach out to the library a month ahead of time.

This guide shows how to:

You are always welcome to reach out to your instructional subject librarian (Amanda Chin, Jennifer Rohan, Jody Segal, or Katie Cunnion) AND to Marji MacKenzie, Holman Library’s collection librarian. Librarians will always gladly consult with you on film options for your classes.

Important Timelines to Consider

What Timelines Should Faculty Consider When Showing Films?

  • If you are requesting new media or to have a DVD digitized for a class, please note that it can take the library and Media Services several weeks to a month to fulfill the request.

  • Please reach out to your instructional subject librarian with your list of films before the start of each quarter, so we can double check that we still have access to the films you used previously and make sure that you have correct links and login info.

    • Please be sure to email media services with your new class roster each quarter you plan to stream a video that was digitized for you.
