Finding a community member to interview can be intimidating, but this page will help! Remember, professionals working in criminal justice fields were once students like you and most will want to help. Don't get discouraged if your first attempt doesn't work out. Be persistent, friendly and open and you will find your perfect match. 

Some tips:

• Smaller organizations are more likely to have real people actually take your call, but may be too busy to do an interview, so try more than one!
• Don't be afraid to go for a big name, the worst they can say is no, and you might get an amazing experience!
• Don't just send one email to one person and wait to hear back - the more options you have the better
• No means no - move on to the next person!
• Get creative - do you or your parents/girlfriend/ boyfriend/uncle/cousin/ grandmother/hair stylist know someone in the criminal justice field? ASK!

The interview you have been assigned in this class is an informational interview, which is a meeting where a person (you) discusses a career with a professional (interviewee) to gain information, but is not seeking employment.
