Youth Radio

Founded in 1993 in Berkeley during a period of heightened youth violence and homicide, Youth Radio was established as an outlet for Bay Area youth to process their experiences and provide an alternative perspective to the prevailing media dialogue. Youth Radio operates bureaus in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Washington, DC. You can listen to Youth Radio podcasts on NPR.

StoryCorps

StoryCorps is a traveling project to capture the American experience one story at a time. 

The StoryCorps Help Center provides assistance to those looking to record their own oral histories including recording opportunities and technical help.

Did you know you can access Adobe Audition on the computers here on campus? Audtion is the audio editing software found in Adobe's Creative Cloud.

Audacity 

Free, open-source, cross-platform audio software. Audacity is an easy-to-use, multi-track audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux and other operating systems.


Voice Recorder

Voice Recorder is Microsoft's PC audio recording tool. You can download the app on your PC or on a mobile device. Use Voice Recorder to create podcasts or record the audio track for a movie.

GarageBand

GarageBand is Apple's consumer-level audio editing application. This is a powerful application at any price, but this application is included free on all OS X Macs.  With a little effort, you can create your own compositions using GarageBand, but it is exceptionally suited to creating very slick podcasts combining sound clips and voice recordings.
